Default Mobil 1 Oil Filler Cap Appearance Mod Mystery?

I've got sort of mystery on my hands here.....I ordered a Mobil 1 Oil Filler Cap (part# 12555685) for my 2000 'bird, and for some reason the top part of the cap will not read the same direction as the factory cap. The printing on the Mobil 1 cap is turned so that it appears to be upside down when viewing it from the front of the car. I'd really like it to face the same direction as the factory cap did (shown in first pic below). I've seen photos on other websites (mainly personal sites) showing the cap installed and facing the "correct" way (with a part number that matches what I ordered). The first place I looked after researching it here was InstallUniversity.com. It worked out for them, so what's up with my cap? That sucker will only go on one way, and that would be the way it's shown in the bottom pic below. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Looks like somebody layed the sticker facing the wrong way. My Mobil 1 cap faces the right way

I agree...the only explanation I can come up with is that the sticker was put on wrong...

From the looks of it, the logo and verbiage were screenprinted onto the plastic. Maybe the top part of the cap was attached to the base incorrectly?

Strange that it was exactly 90 degrees off though...

Can you return it and exchange it?

Doubtful....I installed it a few months ago, and it's been on the car ever since. I ordered it online as the price was good, but maybe I should order it locally at a higher price just so that I can look it over before buying it.

I went to the Indianapolis Auto Show today, and the Chevy SSR has the Mobil 1 cap. Almost made me want to stick it in my pocket

I'd hate to see how much you complain if your car got scratched.

What? I'm not sure what you're talking about? Please explain.

If you're referring to me swiping the Mobil 1 cap from the SSR at the Indianapolis Auto Show, I was seriously joking. Still not sure what that has to do with my car or anyone else's car getting scratched though....

he was stating that your complainging about an oil cap, he hates to see how much you'd complain about the paint (what people actually see on your car) would get scratched.

It seems some of you are reading to far into my question....I'm not complaining at all. My car ain't a garage queen, so it's got plenty of road rash. It was just a simple question about an oil filler cap.

Hopefully no one will pick apart any questions you have to ask here

No need to explain yourself...your car doesn't have to be a garage queen for you to be annoyed about that oil cap...I totally understand how you feel! I guess some folks just feel the need to interject useless and ignorant comments...it's what the internet is all about!!

My cap faces in toward the engine, not towards the front either.

Towards the engine? Sounds like you've got a messed up cap too.
