ones that have painted intakes
i ordered a fast intake, and when it gets here i'm gonna paint it the same color of my car pewter metallic, and i was wondering what ya'll do to paint them, do you sand them any, prime, or clearcoat, or just paint it thanks and if you have any pics post them please

i painted mine ..its looks like ****..hahahah i mean it was ok but i was kinda in a hurry and got a few little runs here and there..plus i didnt clearcoat it..it looked so bad i took it off and swapped it with another stocker before i sold it..
as a note..not saying painting your intake is gay..they look bad *** when done good..mine just looked gay.....

You'll need to sand it with 400 grit first. Just enough to etch the surface. Use brake cleaner to wash off any residue, and make sure to put on plenty of clear. Let it sit untouched for at least a day. The paint should cure in about a week. The BEST tip... take your time and use high quality masking tape and paint. Good luck!!!

My pal owns a bodyshop.
He degreased my intake, used a scuff pad instead of sandpaper (I wasn't looking for a smooth finish, just something not black), & used regular color coat/clear coat paint.
What do you think:
