I dont believe it will hurt anything to unplug the motor except maybe bad radio signal. I removed my ant. back when i had my 94 z28 cuz all i listened to is cd's like you. Shouldnt have a prob.

The only time my power antenna would go down would be when the whole radio/cd player was off. Even when I was listening to CDs the atenna would come up. I unplugged it and so far so good. I really like it not being up, it's a subtle thing that probably I will only notice.

The wire you are looking for is a pink wire on the radio harness. Snip the wire and splice a simple SPST switch and you can control the antenna at your leisure. The antenna requires constant voltage from the radio to remain in the up position. With the switch installed, you open the circuit and the antenna lowers even with the radio still on.
