Default What drag racing with no sfc did to my car

Well I bought the car and new the previous owner before me had drag raced it on more then one occasion, after me taking it to the track and making 13 passes I definitely notices my body getting worse when I washes and waxed it, some one told me that the front fenders don’t wrinkle like the rears but my front ones have creases in them. Here are some pics. All my friends with fast cars are going up to the track this Wednesday but I refuse to make one more pass without SFC’s! My car is destroying itself and I need to give it some TLC before I got back.
Hard to tell with this pic but in persone it is much more noticeable when the light hits it.

This is the driverside rear that is steadily getting just as bad as the passengerside

This is the passenger side that has a crack in it because of the stress.

In this pic it shows the hatch that hitting (like this on both sides)the car and actually wearing away at itself along with that nasty crack.

Looks like the car is tweaked from a collision or something. I've made over 150 passes at the dragstip in my car, and it's not doing any of that...

Looks more like a collision like y2k_ta mentioned. Unless you have some serious power under the hood. Id pull a car fax.

Its stock, with the m6. Do have street tires but they are 275/40/17 bfgoodrich g-force kds or something. I was launching at around 3 k and slipping the clutch a little. That night the posi let go and now it’s kind of iffy. Later that week I exploded the clutch literally the center ripped out and gouged up the bell housing real bad. All in all though it’s still a beautiful car. I’m only 17 and I paid for the whole thing by myself. Got her for 5k. I’m not sure about an accident its funny you say that though cause the car was repainted and some other things I notice make me wonder. Well anyway the hatch thing wasn’t their when I bought it and not only is it their now it’s getting worse the more I beat on it. That’s why I stoped racing it.

WOW,I dont think thats because of subframes. That looks like the bondo is cracking from the tweaking. 5000 and repainted. Possible accident car.

Yeah, I'd agree. 5000 doesn't normally provide the best f-body. JMO, but I'm with the rest of the guys and say it's because of something other than drag racing.

Wow. I really do not think that all that damage can be attributed to drag racing alone. I have seen numerous cars with wavy wrinkles in the rear quarter panels because of no SFCs and hard launching.

It might be prior damage.

More like worn and torn. Thats not normal, and does sound more like its been abused and someone tried to rebuild it and just did a good enough job to get 'er sold.

I agree that it's not normal at all. That damage is not from drag racing alone. I've got hundreds of passes on my car with no SFCs and all I have is a very small ripple in my passanger side 1/4 (kinda looks like small hail damage).

Well I've seen a 3rd gen Z put stress cracks in the roof to sail panel joint (and they have alot less power than an LS1), so I'd say some of the damage is from dragging the car, but it also looks like there has been some prior accident repair, and with the price so low, it's likely it was in a pretty good wreck sometime prior to you buying it
Don't always trust CARFAX, it can be wrong, it's only as good as the info it recieved, there are literally hundreds of ways to hide wrecks/other damage from Carfax (or similar products)
You might not want to know what it would cost to fix, they might find alot more than you bargained for (once they start digging around trying to fix stuff)

I too have an M6 and have put over 25-30 passes on it, and no problems.
Guess those suspension comps did the trick.....but I do have dimples due to a hail storm

Even if you aren't getting the damage repaired, you wont regret putting on SFC's.

ya im gunna put them on anyway, and i get what you are saying about not letting them look around to uncover other things. Im still not to worried about it as the damage isnt noticeable unless your realy looking. Its not a show car. Other great news is now i have to save up money for the ticket i just recieved today so yay for me.
