1 can should be enough. Slightly scuff the surface of the lense with VERY FINE grit sandpaper (to give the nightshades something to adhere to)

Go over in LIGHT coats waiting 5-10 min's in between coats, until you reach your desired color / shade.

CLEAR coating them is a must after the night shades!! TRUST ME! I actually went and got mine professionally cleared, and they match my paint perfect.

Well the scuffing is not needed. VHT is designed to adhere to your taillights. Read the instructions on the can. Then clear, wet sand & buff. Scuffing could possibly make it stick beter, but I didn't do it & it worked just fine. Just make sure you don't hold the can too close & get runs.

I was also told scuffing is not necessary.

That is probably why some do it. I kinda like leaving the lettering that way it looks more stock. But everyone has their own opinion or way they feel is best.

Here is a pic of mine. I haven't wet sanded them yet, but will be done this week. Don't mind the part you can see light through. It only shows b/c of the time of day & angle. When lookin straight on in person they are both black, but you can still see when the brakes are applied.

After the clear coat what grit sandpaper should you wet sand with? Is the wetsanding and buffing what make the taillights look glossy? I'm going to nite-shade my taillights and I'm new at all this so I don't want them to look like crap. What would I buff with? I don't wanna sound stupid, but I also don't wanna screw it up so I may as well ask.

I used Duplicolor Truck/SUV automotive clear coat. I applied (5) coats to allow room for wet sanding. I'm gonna use 2000 grit & see how it looks. Then just wash the car & buff like normal. It should shine like the rest of the car.

Make sure when wet sanding not to make swirls. Only go side to side & try not to push too hard. Your just tryin to smooth the surface. And use plenty of water.
