Side molding
Okay guys.....I am really fond of sleeper cars and factory appearances, which leads me to my question and point of opening this thread.
I would really like to know since my car is getting a complete paint job right now. Should I remove the side molding on my 2001 SS? Or do you think it is worth me leaving it on? As far as cleanliness appearance, do you prefer it or dislike it? Let me know please!!
Thanks!!!!

remove it... you better get it removed before they spray the doors though because some shops spray the doors with the molding on which would leave a big stripe if you took the molding off after they sprayed it.

If you are having it painted, remove them now and see what you think. You can put them back on later if you don't like it, but once it is painted, you will never be able to take them off!

I was really skeptical about taking mine off, cuz I thought it looked fine with it on. But I did take and off, and oh man does it look better! I think it cleans up the side sooo much. You wouldn't think it would make much of a difference, but to me it did. I'd take it off!

Definitely remove it......you'll have no regrets.
IF you do decide not to remove it those.....TAKE IT OFF FOR THEM TO PAINT IT....most shops won't do any extra work like that...you'll end up with paint lines and a great chipping/peeling point.....

these doors wont "ding" they will flex if hit by a door, but if hit hard enough (hard enough where it wouldnt matter of u had the moldings or not) they will crack because they are fiberglass... re-enforced with steel bars of course.. here is a direct quote from a 2001 camaro sales booklet... "dent-resistant composite door panels" also goes on about the front fenders and roof....
