ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use a claybar. not before every wax/polish, but anytime you think your paint is dirty, or you want to start over. The shine is only as good as the paint it is protecting. Ive bought 2 brand new cars, as soon as I got them home i clayed both, I was amazed what the clay took out of brand new paint. And start over when you get the zaino. Currently i have 4 coats of z5 (mild abrasive) and 8 coats of Z2 (no abrasive "optically perfect") on my TBSS. I love Zaino, Never had a bad product from them, everything they offer is awsome, down to the leather in a bottle and glass polish. I really like their tire shine as well. with the amount you have to use its cheaper than buying off-the-shelf products. thans my .02 cents

That is quick. My first clay job took hours. Then again, I was trying to erase years of improper care. I could not believe the amount of metal dust embedded in the surface: thousands of tiny rust spots.

I would definitely use the clay bar. If you are going to spend the $ on Zaino, you have to do it right to get the results everyone is talking about. If you choose to buy it, here is a link to some application tips. Zaino Bros

I've never used Zaino, but from what I've heard, you have to wait for the Zaino to cure, is that correct? SO if you apply 4 coats of z5, then 8 coats of z2, how long does that take you?

It takes me a while to clay (20-30mins), takes me longer to go over the car with #80 (30-90minutes), then glaze or Nxt (30-50 mins), then top it off with a wax/sealant (30-40 mins). I cant imagine how long it will take to aplly 12 coats of any product.

In Houston's summers, Zaino takes about 15 minutes to cure. For me, by the time I get finished applying, the section I started with is dry and ready to be removed. During the cooler months, I usually let it sit for about an hour or so, then I check it periodically. The key is thin coats.

I typically do no more than two coats of Z5 (the first one with the ZFX additive, which speeds the curing process and promotes adhesion), then 2-3 coats of Z-2. Between each layer, I do a wipe-down with the Z-6 detailing spray/gloss enhancer.

Of course, this is after I've washed, clayed and polished all the swirls out. If it's just a weekly wash, I'll wash, do a layer of Z-2, then wait for that to dry while I put away my bucket/hose/soap. If you apply it in thin coats, it will dry quickly.

Apply no more than three coats of Zaino Show Car Polish enabled with ZFX within 24 hours.

I usually only do the first coat with ZFX. The rest are either straight Z-5 or Z-2.

Let's not get carried away here.

One coat of Zaino is all that is necessary. 12 coats is very extreme, and not even possible in one day.

Every product has to cure.

Also note:
Zaino is an addiction!

You will get addicted to not only the glassy look you get from it, but the SMELL is awesome!

I find myself using the Detail spray just for the Grapey scent! haha

Oh and YOU MUST CLAYBAR!

Do the "plastic bag" test.

take a common grocery store plastic bag and put you hand in it. Then run your hand along your rear bumper. You feel all those tiny specks and bumps? Well you wont feel those after you Clay it!

But Zane, if I put on 64 coats of Zaino, that will make the surface so slick that I'll cut a tenth off my quarter mile time!

Zaino is awesome. Definitly use the clay. I like to do 2 coats in one day about 3 times a summer. If I fill the bottle to mix with ZFX I can get 2 coats. If I am in a hurry I just do half a bottle. I figure if I am going to set aside a day to clean it up might as well do 2 coats. Its not that expensive.

Oh and the leather cleaner and conditioner is unbelievable.

Wow. 1 oz. (half the mixing bottle) should be more than enough for 3 full coats on an f-body. You should barely be able to see it going down when you apply.

I put it on so you can barely see it. Usually when I do my car I do the entire car, inner fender lips, under the side skirts, ect.. anything with paint on it. Sometimes I even put in on the windows acts just like rainX. You are right though I misspoke usually I can get 1.5-2 coats out of a half bottle.
