you have to put your car in program mode which is on section 2 page 21 in the manual. then go to page 24 in the same section and you have 4 modes that you can program. if you dont have a manual or need help, let me know i just went through everything not too long ago. there quite a bit of stuff you can change with the car.

no problem man. i got an 02 so i hope its the same for you
putting the car in program mode
1. put the key in the ignition
2. turn the ignition to run to disarm the alarm
3. turn the ignition off
4. remove the radio fuse. this fuse is in the main fuse block, located on the left side of your instrument panel.
5. turn the ignition towards you to accessory.
6. count the number of chimes you hear. you will hear one or two chimes depending on the features your vehicle is equipped with. (you should hear two i think)
arming verification
1. press the lock button on the remote keyless entry.
2. count the number of chimes you hear. the number of chimes tells you which mode your vehicle is set for. ( you want mode 3, so 3 chirps).
3. press the lock buton again until you hear the number of chimes corresponding to the mode selection you want (again, 3)
exiting program mode
when programing is complete, turn the ignition to off and reinstall the radio fuse.
this SHOULD do the trick. if there are any problems i will go out and go through the modes myself. hope it works for ya hit me back if you need help again wih it.

mode one is all off, mode two is horn and parking lamps, and 4 is parking lamps only. are you sure you exited program mode correctly? i messed that up a few times and i think that didnt "save" the mode. yeah man i'll try it, its pouring right now i just got back from work so i'll do it when it stops.
also man, i forgot to tell you earlier but when you first put it in program mode, you will either hear one or two chirps-if you only hear one then that means you are not able to change certain things, the lights being one of them. the chart of what is available to be changed is on page 2-21
