Default Why Have HIDs With Standard Halogen Or HID-Like Fogs?

Just curious but why even keep your fogs on with you upgrade to HIDs? IMO I think it looks cheesy seeing halogen fogs on HID cars, whether it be factory or aftermarket HIDs. Plus they don't really help much in the way of lighting the road (at least mine don't). There's also way too much of a color difference and just doesn't look good. I can see swapping the fogs out to HIDs as well so they all match but personally I don't want to drop another $100 on HID fogs, plus my fogs are free-form ones so they'd probably blind oncoming traffic without some sort of shield on the bulb.

I personally took a different approach to my fogs and used yellow ion bulbs in mine and for $3.50/each (PM me for website), it's a cheap mod. I did this for 3 reasons...
#1 I can tell when they're on (cuts through HID light)
#2 Actually useful (especially in fog or rain here in Louisiana)
#3 Look different (Lexus-style, lol)

Now, no one I know around here likes the look, but oh well. I strive to be different....probably why I have 500+ LEDs on the car as well. I do have pictures if anyone's interested in seeing them, for positive comments or negative ones.

I do HID fogs just for the sake of matching my HID headlights. I like the look of both the fogs and headlights on at the same time and at night it almost seems like its missing something with the fogs off. It doesn't offer any more brightness, it just matches the headlights. But trust me, the HIDs are way brighter than those bulbs.

i think plug and play hids in your headlights are cheesy. As for the stock 27 watt halogen fogs, they suck in general. The only reason I ever turn them on was for the aesthetics. I have hids in my foglights now but they are 3000k and mainly just use them in the morning on my way to work because it's extremely foggy or when it's raining out. I am almost done fabbing up my projectors for my headlights. working in a shop all day really makes you not want to do anything to a car when you get home

How are plug n' play HIDs cheesy? What's the difference between other HIDs?

I would think they are cheesy because they are just a bulb and no projection. You blind other people.

I never stated my yellow fogs look better than HIDs. I personally think they look awesome because they all match. I'm just saying it'd be rude for me to put HIDs in my fogs because I have Free Form fog lights and that means that putting HIDs in them would blind other drivers. I actually went out of my way (and pocket book) to ditch the crappy Euro housings for some Bosche which have alot better cutoff so I'm less likely to blind oncoming traffic. Of course projectors are the best way to go with HIDs in comparision to reflectors. I'm also not lucky to have projectors in my fog lights like camaro's do, otherwise I'd be more willing to spend the money so they all match perfectly and not blind people. I did go out of my way to make sure my lights are completely different and not like I kept standard halogens in there or tried an HID-like bulb. Ever seen Lexus cars? They have HID headlights with yellow fogs, 2 of the most useful type of lights to have any car. My options, at least as I see it, are this:

#1 **** off on coming traffic
#2 Put stock halogens or Silverstars to make them kinda similar but obvious they're not HIDs
#3 Go with a completely different color and at the same time actually make my fog lights useful for me

Which option would be the best?

I just happen to look on the site where I got mine from and they now have amber H3 fog bulbs for the same price. I wonder if that might be a better choice over yellow???
