Default Need some help with sanding my taillights

Since I'm having a lot of work done on the car due to the dumbass truck driver backing into it, I decided to also get some work done that has been bothering me for a while. My firebirds taillights are blacked out with vht and then cleared with a rattle can. There are a bunch of scratches in the clear coat (i dont think they went through to the vht) and it just doesnt shine how id like it to. I want to wet sand the clear coat and then have my body shop spray some automotive clear to really get them to shine. Ive never wetsanded anything before. Could someone please give me some steps on what to do. I guess your last step should leave the lights in prepped condition to be automotive cleared. Thanks in advance!!!

go get some 1500 and 2000 grit and 2 sponges. soak the paper in a bucket of clean water. wrap the paper around the sponge and sand to a haze. make sure you wring out the other sponge above the area you are working on to clean it. thats it.

thats it? i dont need any polish or anything. if i give it to the body guy hazy and he just sprays clear it will shine and take away the haze? also, is there a certain type of sandpaper your supposed to use for wet sanding, or can u just use the standard brownish sandpaper?

QUIK Z, no prob. i enjoy it most of the time, lol. thank you for the support.

jpticar- no polish the haze it what you want it will help the clear stick and not run. just remember a LIGHT haze. after they paint it they should cut and buff it out. i forget what the lable is on the back of the paper b ut look for wet/dry paper, it will say it on the back. good luck!
