Default Painting Interior (Pics inside 56K welcome)

Guys My car needs a new headliner, carpet, and a driver side seat.
Ive been tossing around the idea of wrapping the entire interior in leather to give it a more high class feel.

Another option Ive considered was painting all the interior panels with a semi gloss or matte plastic paint. Along with a true black headliner and true black carpet and new MRC seats.

Well I didnt want to tear the interior out of the DD and then have the paint look like hell, but today I had a local guy give me all of the panels out of a 95 formula.

They are all tan now, but tommorow I will be spraying them with some krylon fusion to see how they come out.

Also will be doing the insert of the firebird door in either leather or vinyl but I cant decide on a color. Silver maybe, something like a dark silver but not exaclt the stock color, charcoal.

Too dark to work on them now but Ill be gettin up bright and early tommorow before going to the track to work on them.

It will be a while until its done cause the door panels are gonna take a little bit of time since I need to wrap the center section (TA Panels) in leather and get some vinyl paint for the doot handle strip dealy haha

Looks good, however I've had bad experience with that stuff actually staying bonded to the surface. My buddy used that stuff, and his car smells like rattle can paint every time its hot out.

UPDATE
The track trip got cancled so I decided to do a little more work.
Pics

And I have some questions.

How do I take off the board on the back side of the door panel. I see some little clips, do I just cut those off, but then how do I put the panel back in. See Pic

Then I started looking at the door panels and Im trying to plan a mod of attack.

The tan outer part (1.) will be painted since its plastic.
What color and material do you think I should do the insert (2.)in , Im thinking maybe suede or leather and a dark silver or a color slightly off the paint color. What do you think?
What should I do with the vynil handle (3.)? Ive heard of vynil paint flaking off pretty bad, should I just wrap it in a black leather or do any of you have any better Ideas? Could I dye it?

I've been through painting the entire interior. I used Duplicolor paint for vinyl & etc. The vinyl handle area doesn't so much chip or crack, but simply rubs over time. I would love to leather wrap mine.

I too have some firebird door panels. Have you seen a write-up on how to convert from camaro panels or are you just wingin' it?

i will tell you some secrets from someone who has done lots of interiors. SEM paint is the best for plastic interior pieces. its expensive but it works great, i buy mine from the auto paint store, and they have every shade imaginable. also duplicolor has a vinyl and fabric dye that works great. i had a beater TPI iroc and i shot the entire door panel, plastic, carpet, and vinyl and i couldn't believe how good it looked. 6 dollars at pep boys or auto zone. btw, you cannot use the dye on floormats bc your feet will eventually stomp the color out, i did do the entire seats in my iroc and they held up very good, it is extremely flexible. anyone need seats sewed? pm me, i do them on the weekends at my house.

Are you using any type of adhesion promoter?

i never use anything else, occasionally some parts will need to sanded or rubbed with alcohol, but only if they have armor all or skin oil on them.

okay thanks for the help with the dye.

I didnt use any adhesion promoter as per the instructions for the fusion. Im gonna let it cure for a few days and then test the durability and then heat it up and do the same then get it really cold. If I get and flakes or cracks, Ill strip it and go back from the start.
I think it will be okay though, I was really surprised with the adhesion I was getting.

I was using some Mr Clean stuff I found to clean them and I was really surprised at how well it stripped them.

But we will see.

And The carpet is going to be replaced with a true black carpet or MAYBE a stock one dyed, but after hearing that if I go the dyed route I will just buy ebony or aftermarket black floor mats

if your fusion turns out to not be so good try the SEM. that duplicolor carpet dye is awesome, try it on a test piece and guage for yourself. the ash tray area would be bad for a hand held gps fiberglassed in and wired up. btw, if you got some vinyl, you could send me the console lid and i can sew it for you and ship it back. put like a two tone to match the shifter boot.

The leather kit's ready: http://store.specializedstainless.co...ry=Leather+Kit

The kit now is Ebony. The only other color I might offer is tan/beige... You can also order a free sample if you'd like.

Here is a write-up on how to disassemble the door panels (and change the cloth/leather if you want):
http://www.lastofthebreed.com/Instal.../DoorPanel.htm

Here is a post I made when I changed my cloth from black to silver:

(I deviated from the LastOfTheBreed write-up a bit.)
