Default Trans am dash in a camaro?

Ok, I know I'll probably catch some hell over this, but I'll post anyway. I'm considering replacing the dash in my camaro with the dash from a trans am. I just like the trans am dash a lot better. The camaro dash has always seemed kinda plain to me. I know I'll have to replace the guages as well as the cd player. I'm assuming a trans am dash will bolt directly in? Has anybody out there ever done this or heard of it being done?

I was comparing my camaro dash with a buddy of mine's ws6 earlier today, and it looks like the swap would be very simple, looks like just the face of the dash will have to be changed, the dividing line, running crossways across the dash looks to be the same. Think I can even use the camaro guages, cd player, and console! I love camaros, but I think most of you guys will agree that the trans am dash looks alot more refined, even the seats and door panels look better in my opinion! Anybody have a trans am dash for sale?

Gauges and console are definitely the same. The CD player I'm pretty sure too. I know that the chevy and pontiac radios have the heat sinks on different sides, and I think the pontiac radio uses 4 bolts vs. the chevy 3, but the faces are the same size. Maybe someone else can shed some light.

I'm planning on putting in TA door panels, some adjustments are necessary from what I understand. I started a thread on it not too long ago if you look into my profile you could find it pretty easily.

It fits. I only used the dash with nothing underneath but I have seen a few posts a while back and folks installed everything underneath the dash.

I agree, that's why I'm considering a t/a more now, plus the swooping body.

I just swapped one into mine as well.... I had it reupholstered in black vinyl first, to match the seats im putting in. The rest of the interior is still out of the car though as im re-covering it also, so no pics yet. But its a pretty direct bolt-in... just know that you need the Trans Am AC ducting if you want to keep air/heat in your car, cause the camaro ducts dont fit underneath.... ask me how i found that out! Haha. Overall though its a much nicer dash, and I like it because it has less plastic parts, which gives the camaro one a cheaper feel I think.
