Rear window tint
hey when you get the back window tinted do you just get it over the little black dots, go around them or try to get them off as best as you can?

My tint goes over the top of the dots. The guy who did my tint came up with some wax or gel or something that he applied with a chapstick type tube all over the dots. It made my tint stick to the dots and all between them so it doesn't have that air bubble look. It looks really good on my car. You could ask around to see if any tinters know how to do this...

my friend is a professional window tinter, he tints over the dots but it doesn't stick and he knows it. but if you cut it before the dots it lets in a lot of light when looking from the inside.

i've heard scraping works but it seems like it would be a pain not only in the *** but everywhere else too...is there no correct way of perfecting the rear window tinting process??

I have done the painting. In my opinion there is no other option.
Painting leaves a flawless finish.
The guy who tinted my windows was blown away by how good it looked and asked me everything I did because he wanted to start doing that.

I don't remember the entire procedure, but it went something like this
1/4" masking tape (so that it can be shaped in a curve just underneath the dots)
1" masking tape around the 1/4" masking tape to cover some of the window
Cover everything with that plastic roll you find in the paint section at home depot (3 mil or better) including the part of the window you don't want to paint.
You will by now have created a plastic cacoon in your rear trunk
Put on a breathing mask and stuff to cover your face/eyes
Jump in the trunk
Clean the area with rubbing alcohol
Spray light equal coats all over the dots until your are satisfied (I think I used Rustoleum flat black)
Pretty easy task, just want to make sure you mask off the car real well and take care of yourself because it is a small area with a lot of fumes. Crack the garage door so you have ventilation, but not too much to where the wind is blowing the overspray all over the place and possibly on your car.
