Default Project "Old School" on the way!

Since I can't get an older car and convert it to an LS1 like Tony is doing, I am going to reverse engineer my 1998 This is the plan:

1 - Heater box gone with block off plate (already done).
2 - Rewire harness and eliminate excess and ugly wiring in the engine bay.
3 - Mount PCM inside car on firewall
4 - Mount Hawker Genesis battery to firewall (former heater location)
5 - Entire engine bay painted semi-flat black
6 - Engine block and water pump painted red
7 - Aluminum heads unpainted
8 - Coils relocated to under side of cowl
9 - Intake and smoothed valve covers painted metallic silver

Will be !ABS, !PS, !A/C, !heater, !emissions, !clutter. Car is intended mostly for drag racing with occasional local cruise ins. May even pull the headlights out to save some extra weight off the nose. Will still have the Formula fog lights if it gets a little dark

LOL! I remember when you were searching for that car as an LS1 wannabe. Funny how it is about to reach a level that you never thought it would.

GOOOOO Trailer queen! :p

Sounds fun.

don't put the battery up front (in the heater area)...thats a lot of work and you still have front end weight.....

move the battery to the truck and gain some traction while your at it....

I like the PCM relocation mod....I have always wanted to do that but its just been too much work for a daily driver.....

post updates on how it goes

I had my Optima battery in the rear and didn't see any gains at the track. I bought a Hawker battery (only 13 pounds). It will fit nicely there and no weight issues IMO.
