Question Stripes-What do you think of this?

OK, I'm masking my WS6 hood to paint gloss black stripes, but I wanted to get a few opinions on the final design. What's shown in the pics will leave the seperated rim around the scoops silver. My other idea was to not go as low on the sides and leave some space between the scoops and the end of the stripes with rounded corners. Thought and ideas needed/welcomed!! Thanks guys! Swat

I like it the way you have it taped off myself.

I think it will look good, you're not thinking of using that blue tape on the edges, right?

tennz28, I think you're misunderstanding. I'm painting the tops of the scoops. I just havent masked off the "triangles" on the sides. Swat

I prefer the green stuff. I just had the blue around and wanted to get an idea of how I'm going to lay the stripes out. Swat

oh, well I would suggest that plastic tape painters use for pinstriping, cant beat that stuff.....its about a 1/4 inch wide, also comes in different widths

ive only seen this once, and it was on a black ws6 but instead of painting the hood scoops like you have, how about a "RAM AIR" along the width of the scoop. When i seen it i was driving next to him. It was literaly the length of the hood on the scoop and i was amazed how great it looked. It was the outline lettering not the regular style. when the sun hit it it was a metallic white or silver.....very very nice. If i had a ta that would be on top of the list of things to do for me.

If you want to try it, find a decal person and make it custom. if you like it then paint it on there. if not its prob only going to be $20 to have them made and you didn't waste alot of money with this option

good luck with your project,

Kevin

Kevin, that sounds really sweet! I might try to incorporate something like that. Here's my overall plan for the paint on this car. The top of the hood scoops, outside mirrors, spoiler (with shaved 3rd brake light) and roof are going to be painted gloss black along with a gloss black CETA mod. It'll stay this way with the silver since $$ isn't growing in my front lawn...or the neighbor's kids keep picking it all! Once I get some $ saved up I want a orange candy with gold metallic sprayed over the silver. It'll then be orange and black instead of silver/black. Add black Motorsport C6 rims and I'm done with the exterior. Swat

P.S. I don't have PhotoShop, otherwise I'd DEFINATELY post it up!
Oh, there's a guy painting his Camaro with the Orange I want...I think he's using silver or white stripes, tho.

I think I'm gonne keep it mostly the same as I've masked it, but I'll leave an even space away from the line around the scoops, and in the front corners I'll use a dime's radius rounded corners.

tennZ28, I was almost thinking of doing that, but it doesn't follow my color scheme.

Hopefully I'll be able to get it painted while I'm off work Monday and Tuesday. I'll get pics up if I do. Swat

Well, it took forever to get a pic up, but heres on of the stripes I painted on. They are 100% rattle can with wet sanding and buffing.

Here's the BEFORE pic:
