Default Painted My Intake Manifold

Had a friend bring the intake into work and shoot it with some paint the same color as the car. Check it out and let me know what you guys think.

Looks sharp. Thing with painted intakes is that you can't just throw the crappy OEM finished TB on it. Powdercoat or Polish the TB to match with it.

I was thinking that too Brian, but I think it jus' looks like that because of the low-quality pictures. Even the boxes look a lil' fuzzy.

Nice Intake! Going to paint mine a Dark Charcoal when I do heads and cam.

I have a Pewter Z like yours but my theme is black and pewter w/ a little bit of chrome. There isn't any pewter rattle can color out there and I didn't want to color the intake black because its already black. With that being said, I opted to do it w/ Dark Shadow Grey w/ clear coat after that and this what it looks like... btw, I painted the fuel rail gloss black.

Looks good. I'm getting my 92mm painted next week before porting and install. Does sanding and painting hurt it or performance?

Looks great, did you sand it down or anything or do you just spray some primer on it, the paint, then the clear?

Why would you guys go through all that work and not take the time to sand down all the casting marks so you have a perfect smooth surface? I had my body shop go back and strip it all back down and sand them back out because he forgot to. In my opinion, they look much nicer. By the way, those colors look good guys.

I sanded that pebble finish out, sprayed 4 coats of adhesion promoter, then sprayed it w/ high filler primer, then base color, and finally clear coat it 3-4 times. I sprayed the casting marks with the high filler primer w/ multiple coats and tried to blend it in w/ 600-800 grit but still showed through. Looks like I didn't do enough.

Don't forget to use the adhesion paint promoter for plastics. Its a spray can also. Use it like its paint.

Looks nice in black. i tossed that but decided to go different with mine. i did mine in Galaxy silver off the Grand Prixs. Lots of fine metallics. sanded the casting marks on top of the ribs BUT they kinda show through for some reason when shot in the light. lower light and no problems. i added custom decals from my screen name on another forum. i may take them off though. i'm smoothing out the FRC's, Airbridge, coolant reservior, Washfluid reservoir, and radiator shroud, and doing them in gloss black, and then cracking out the airbrush and doing a black widow theme with cob webs and a couple of widows on the covers. Could look pretty sweet.

In this pic i messed up the R in ColeTrain so i ended up redoing it. I don't have any pics after the redo but it's the same thing.
