Default Meguirs 3 step

Im going to detail my ss with meguirs 3 step system by hand. Im not going to clay the car because it is already really clean. I was wanting to know on the final step, can i use nxt or golden class instead of the other wax?

Yes, since it's the last step you could probably apply any Meg's product.

if doing the 3 step, youd want to apply just a pure wax, not a cleaner wax or anything like that. a cleaner wax is sort of like using a 3 step in one bottle, but not as well. use the 3rd step, or use #26 hi-tech yellow wax.

Ok. Ill do the meguirs 3 step exactly and then put the nxt on top of the three step for extra protection. Does that sound good?

I think the cleaner wax is step #1 or 2 in that process. The final product should be a regular wax or sealant, like NXT or #26 or Gold Class carnauba. You'd be fine with any of those. Look for the new version NXT 2.0 at Wal-Mart.

I did the 3 step last year, took 12 hours to do my car

1)cleaner
2)polish
3)wax

this year i used the meguirs NXT. came out better than the 3 step I did the year before. The 3 step is good stuff though.

the NXT wax is the best that I have come acroos so far

Do you think the nxt is worth buying if i already have the gold class? Im gonna be doing clay bar, 3 step and the final wax this weekend.

I did the first 2 steps with Mcguirs three step restore on my Blazer when I bought it in August, and then did NXT for the final step (I love the look of NXT and it is one of the easiest to apply. here is a before and after of this process on the worst part of the truck. The first picture was after a fresh wash and some clay baring), nobody wants to take care of the roof of thier SUV's.

I used to do the three step using the Gold wax. Worked well. Recently, Ive been clay baring, and using the NXT alone. I just picked up a porta-cable from tropicare last summer, so hopefully this summer Ill get to use it. But I plan on clay baring, and then doing the 3 step...since it shouldnt take quite as long with the PC.

I really like the paint cleaning step of the process. It takes out all water spots and anything left over from washing/clay barring. Seems to provide the best end result.

Here is my 87 TA's hood last spring (before the wreck) after using the clar bar and 3 step with NXT. Pretty good for original paint.

I've never used Scratch-X, but from what I understand it's basically a mildly abrasive polish. So you would use it in Step #2. I don't think you would have to use both the step 2 polish product and Scratch-X, just one or the other.

Also, if you have any problems removing oxidation on the paint, the Meguires that I have pictured works extremely well. I used it on my daily driver Dodge w/ 13 year old paint. Looked showroom new. Before I faught a Beamer
