yes if you dont feel like sanding and all that you can just buy a blank one like that from gm parts direct. its off a lt1 formula I believe.

I did it on my NBM formula and it looks MUCH better. I also did it to my girlfriend's Trans Am last weekend. We removed the red painted bird and "Trans Am" with some paper towels and fingernail polish remover. It will look like *** and get dull while you are removing that paint. Then you get the buffer out and wax/polish it up and it comes out like brand new again. Any regular automotive wax/polish will work. Not sure I would attempt it by hand buffing though, that might take a while

Some very old photos of my car (back in 98!) Even my digital camera sucked back then. lol

You have to copy/paste these, because Tripod.com is now

I was originally just gonna buy the blank one, but I came across this link http://formula.bambeezer.com/filler.htm and just had at it the other night. Did it all by hand and took about 10 mins

pic of all the supplies you need

No need for sandpaper. The nail polish remover gets the paint off just fine. Then buff the hell out of it with wax.

The nail polish got the red paint off, but I still had an indention of the lettering and bird. The sanding was needed to make it smooth.

Did mine this past weekend. Took about 10-20 minutes. Looks good. I just need to polish up my rear lights and do a little bit more buffing and I'll be set.

wow. it DOES look a lot cleaner. it took me about an hour .. but this is because i was taking my time.

i had some trouble getting the red off of mine -- it was barely faded -- so i used a very light sand paper and water and took it off.. man -- looked TERRIBLE after that..

i then took my $14 walmart MVP brand orbital polisher and some wax and "buffed" over it A LOT..

it took quite a few times because i got a little rough with the sand paper [i'm a dumbass sometimes] but after i had done it a few times the scratched look went away and it had a VERY deep shine. who knew that old dull black plastic could shine so good !?

tomorrow i'm going to go over it a few more times and also i'm going to run over my tail lights a few times.

very easy -- helps a lot.

i was wonder -- has anybody ever had this panel painted the same color as their car [excluding black]? i bet that'd look sweet.

I've seen that panel painted body color and it looks worse, since it sort of ties the taillights together. Now, if someone were to mask off all of the red dots on the honeycombs and spray the entire black area on the taillights body color, that would probably look awesome.
