Default DupliColor Vinyl and Carpet Dye...

Well, theres about 3-4 different "charcoal greys" that GM has in my firebird. I had a couple of friends tell me about this dye in a can. I tried it out on the very back carpeted privacy flip panel. Turned out great! The stuff stinks pretty bad though... Just wondering if anyone else has used this stuff and what they think of it. I'm eventually thinking about taking my carpet out and dying it to a darker color. (BTW, not going rice here) just simply and tastefully upgrading the appearance of the 13yr old interior.

heard of it from some guys on another forum. They like it, but I've never known how it holds up over time.

I had trouble with paint coming off the plastic anytime something rubbed against it. For exp my golf bag would rub against rear panel. I tried it on flip lid and it looked good for a little while but if I were slide my hand over it back and forth you could see the original color come back. It worked great on the seats, never faded out, but did make the seat material really rough. I was gonna do the carpet but decided to go with fabric dye from fabric store but never got around to it. Now I'm slowly buying the interior parts I need.

I believe my biggest problem the big color change from beige/champange to ebony/black.

It isn't so great on carpet. I used it to cover up a small stain on my daily driver, it wears off and needs to be redone every few months.
