First Detail:New G8 w/Pics & Videos (56K not today)
The new owner of this G8 asked me to do the first detail on his car with less than 400 miles. I took advantage of the opportunity to do his initial exterior treatment. We started with temps. in the 50s as it struggled to get to 70 degrees by the time I was finished today.
After a quick rinse to get rid of any loose dirt, I presoaked the car before washing by hand. This was done with the Gilmour Foam Gun with Tropi Care "SPARKLE" soap. A light hand wash and rinse completed this phase.
He wanted to remove the factory badges before proceeding. A little dental floss and heated the emblems with a hair dryer made for easier removal:
Also, he wanted the PONTIAC emblem off the rear:
Clay Bar. I recommend this for every car including new from the factory before proceeding in the detail. The surface was not bad, but there is some mild contamination that almost EVERY new car is going to have. Clay Magic Gray (mild) for this purpose.
After the clay, I noticed some light hologramming/fine lines in the finish. To remove these used Menzerna "Super Intensive Polish" with an orange pad. This did a fantastic job removing any of the swirls or other light scratches that the car had (even as new).

For today's treatment I applied Sealant xP differently today with the blue pad by hand and used a buffer with a microfiber bonnet over the orange foam pad to remove.

As an extra measure, I topped the sealant with a prototype ivory colored liquid carnauba wax for a little extra depth. Once again applied by hand with the buffer to remove.
Final Clean-up:
Questions/comments welcomed.

I just got those MF bonnets from you guys not too long ago and it is by far the best investment I have in my details. It saves me at least half an hour from wiping residue off by hand.

Looks clean man, like how you took off those emblems on the side, makes it look even cleaner. Im glad that GM decided to go with the lip style spoiler, instead of its original intended spoiler, which would have made it look just as stupid as the EVO's spoiler.
