Questions about bypassing stock trans cooler
Ok, I got a B&M 24k cooler and want to know what do I need to do to bypass the radiator cooler. I did search and found nothing to help with these things.
1. How to I get from the inlet trans line to the inlet on the cooler? I know the outlet line has a little clamp on it but there is no clamp on the inlet line.
2. How on God's green earth do you get to those zip tie things through the cooling fans? It doesn't look like my hand is going to have enough room to get to those damn thing after they get through the radiator.
Thanks

It's tough, but those will go through! I put my B&M cooler in front of the AC condensor and used the provided rubber spaces to keep some distance. I didn't bypass the factory cooler, just tapped into the return line between the stock cooler and tranny. I have a 160 thermostat and the fans come on early so the car doesn't run hot anyway. With the B&M, Temps stay very low on the highway, and I can turn on the high fans with my Interceptor gauge at the track and keep the tranny temp around 150 even hot lapping it.

Indeed they only made 32 NBM WS6's in '98. I have seen one other owner on here, quadd2244, and I saw one for sale in Canada last year on this site.
On-Topic: We have three people in this thread that would like to know how to bypass the stock cooler, someone has to know something.

UCABlackChevy, did you get your cooler hooked up yet? I'm going to be installing mine this weekend, kind of thinking about using the factory and the b&m cooler. Not sure which way would be better.

Click on Transmission R&R and at the bottom there are some nice pics showing how to bypass the radiator - I will eventually go back and bypass it now that I know what to do.

I had my trans cooler put in by a local mechanic. I didn't feel like destroying my radiator and A/C condensor with those zip ties. Anyay, he bypassed it, and when I asked him why he said "it gets rid of all the heat thats associated with the radiator. That was a year ago. Granted I only put on about 3,000 miles in the past year, I have had no problems bypassing the stocker. Just a little reminder, plug up the holes in the stocker so that if you want to put it back to stock when you sell it you will be able to do so without a bunch of gunk in there.

yes its perfectly fine to bypass the radiator keeps the fluid away from high coolant from the engine. im thinking of using 2 coolers stacked and if that dont help ill be adding a small fan to see what happens
