Default 5 Bellhousing Bolts used for TH 400? (SEE PIC)

Is it five bellhousing bolts that are used to bolt a 400 to an LS1?

Take a look at pic. I think I have marked the five bolt holes on the bellhousing w/ an "X". If you have any info, please share.

Not exactly right. You have the top two switched left to right.

The top bolt you use is on the opposite (driver's side) side of the one you have Xed

You're going to have to machine the face of the ultrabell for the top rear cover bolts on the engine. It will not bolt down flush. Just take the bell off, and hold it up to the engine and you'll see what I'm talking about.

If I remember correctly it depends on which cover you have on the back of the motor. Some have to do as mentioned above and others did not have to worry about it. Vince

I have a 98 so it has the old rear engine cover. I read that some fella just pulled the 4 bolts and grinded down the heads to 1/8". Will probably try that first.

I guess replacing the cover to a later style might be an option as well. Vince

You may want to cut a hole or use a BFH to gain some clearance in this area..

PS I have a 98 also...

I did all of mine with sockets and a lot of extensions. Wobble extensions are your friend.
