i suggest using transmission fluid like dextron mercon and the amount depends on the pan you are using, i think i got like 14 qts in mine.

I'm not sure how much is in mine, it came already filled. I added a bunch more. I figure it has around 12-14 quarts in it. It's actually kind of frustrating trying to read the Lokar dipstick. I have the long one and I think fluid might be pooling in the horizontal section of the dipstick tube making the read a bit mystifying.

I'm going to empty mine back out and start over. I might even try a shorter dipstick.

Yep. Right in the 14-15qt range. If you pull the pan you need 3-31/2 qt. If you pull the pan and filter you need right at 5qt. Damn, I can't believe I remembered all that. I quess I've done it too many times. haha

i was around 12-14 qts-i took a truck d/s, meas'ed how much of the stick came out past the bottom of the tube, cut down the tube/stick so it was back by the firewall, depending on the body style you have-the fluid level will be just above the pan/gasket when at the fill level
i had a pressure gauge hooked up when filling, was amazed it would build still build pressure as i added the last qt or 2, so correct fill is really important
