Default Performabuilt or Extreme Automatics?

Real simple, just from your experience which company offers a better transmission? (Looking @ the 4L60E for my LT1 bird)

Performabuilt. Excellent service, bulletproof transmissions.

I mean they have a 2 year UNCONDITIONAL warranty (if you buy tranny and stall).

They're legit

As a performance transmission builder with inside knowledge of the market,
I would go with Extreme Automatics for any automatic transmission.

Extreme Automatics is the only real competitor with Rossler, which is a name most are familiar with here.

TH400's in 5 second cars, only two places I know of at that level... Rossler and Extreme.

It's amusing to see how close minded some forums are. If it's not a sponsor they must not know what they are doing. There are quite a few builders who don't need to pay for advertising, because their reputation is good enough they can stay busy without advertising. Extreme Automatics is one of those.

Looks to be Hands down Performabuilt fans in here. Switch over to the turbo buick forums and everyone raves for extreme automatics. The builds look similar and if everyones happy with the customer service that comes with it, I will go with the performabuilt. Two more questions:

Does the performabuilt have the oversized Sonnax valves?

If I order mine with a 3600 stall, will it be comparable to the Vigilante?

Performabuilt specifies on there website everything they come with and I do believe it comes with the upgraded Sonnax. If not just call Frank. Nice guy.

A little biased yourself there. Nobody is talking **** about any company, but merely creating a thread like the OP asked for, opinions based on personal experience. As performabuilt is a longstanding vendor here who has built a good reputation, they are getting the appropriate nods from customers which they have done right. Nobody is stepping on anyone's toes here, so just move along.

Why would I be biased?

I am not on either company's payroll. I run my own performance transmission shop, it's not in my interest to "recommend" either company.

Let's just say I have seen some stuff that would definitely make me lean towards Extreme Automatics.
Personal experience you might want to call it, not from a customer's perspective but from a transmission builder's perspective.

I didn't "talk ****" about any company. I could easily do so but I didn't, I merely suggested who "I" would personally go to if I had to choose of the two choices.
"I" would just build my own, so the choices are not valid for me.

I am familiar with Extreme Automatics because I talk to Lonnie occasionally and buy Griner VB's for my high end TH400's. I believe he used to build for one of the sponsors here, and IIRC he isn't really in the 4L60E market anyway, so he may not even want the referral.
They do TH400's for very fast cars and 200-4Rs as their primary business the last time we spoke.

I had Lonnie build the 200-4r in my Buick T-type, and he came to my HOUSE on his way to Chicago to fix a sticky valve in the valve body. Hows that for customer service? He has many trans running in the 9 sec range.

If I ever need a 4l60 built he is the first I would contact. He knows his stuff when it comes to transmissions. I wonder if all the posters here who dismissed him have ever even heard of him.
