Default Thinkin about goin to an Auto..

I'm thinkin about pullin the Built T56 Setup out of my MCSS and puttin a 4L80E in it with a 4K Convertor.

The car is setup with a 9"/3.89 Gears, adjustable 4-link in it and some suspension work.

I already have a 4L80E, it just needs a couple of parts to be put back together, I can do the wiring and tune it with my HP Tuners, the only thing I need is the Flexplate setup, Stall, and lines & cooler. Then have the driveshaft shortened and add the 32 Spline Yoke.

Thoughts?

So you had an auto and complained about. Put in a t56 and gave people **** about having autos and now you want to go back to one. Just like a woman.

A stock 80 is no better then a stock 60 IMO. The 80 needs to be gone through to make it better then a 60. But, your car will be faster with an auto.....

It may stock vs. stock be stronger then a 4l60e, but not a built 4l60e. You have got a bad 60 builder right around the corner from you if you ever wanted to go that route. Sending you a PM about the 94 wiring....

I called ya back on that..

What's the power capabilities of a built 60? I'm shifting at 6500 RPM, and I have the room to setup a big cooler.

The 60 in my green car was good for around 650 lb-ft through a 10 in converter. Honestly, I would have built the 200 you had. I haven't had the chance to dig into the 80's, but I've heard from other builders they can take alot of abuse when built.

A TH350 might work better..I'm lookin at this for race setup..then just toss the T56 back in it for street driving.

Skip the TH350 and go right to the TH400 (IMO) or if your trying to run big power on small tires find a 'glide.

400 is stronger right from the get go and has a lower first gear ratio.

Have Tim at Pro1 in Texarkana build you a 60e. He is very highly recommend around the drag community and the price is very reasonable for what you are getting. Don't give up OD going with one of the older trans. And at your power level you don't need an 80.

How much faster would it be? I'm also running a T56 430 gears running low to mid 11's and think about going to a auto. Street/track car.

In my experience and most others, autos ET like a sumbitch. Manuals tend to trap higher. And, autos take a lot less effort/money to get them to work. I literally threw stock size ET streets on and went out and cut fantastic 60 fts, with no other suspension mods. I see the manual guys struggling to keep up. They are running you down on the big end, but its too little too late.

How well are your 60fts?

I'm thinking I'll gain half a sec, if not more.
I want a 6.9x 1/8 mile, mid 1.5 60fts..I hope it'll get faster..

Why don't you just keep the T56 thats in it already and just learn how to drive.

It got 7.35 in the 1/8, 9.35 in the 1k, 1.68 60ft was my best. We hadn't dialed in the suspension, and it spins about 15ft in 2nd gear when I shift.
