Default Tran crossmember won't line up. Please help!!

I have a L92 engine and a 4L60E trans installed in a 96 chevy camaro which was originally a V6. I was told that I needed a trans crossmember from a 93-97 LT car to fix this problem. After removing the V6 crossmember and installing the V8, I have the same issue. The bolt holes are about 3/4-1" off towards the rear if the car. It's as if the trans is to long for the setup. I was thinking that if I loosened the engine mounts, I could get enough slack to make it work, but 1" is alot. Any suggestions?

I would try a LS1 F-body trans cross member. You won't get 1" from the motor mounts. What motor mounts did you use for the 92 to fit the engine bay? You would need the LS1 mounts for them also.

You do have the correct tail shaft on the trans right? It needs to be the one for the T arm to mount up

An LS1 F-body transmission crossmember will not work on a LT1 F-body becasue the floorboards are different.

Either fab something up which he did already or a 4L60E crossember for a 93-97 f-body should of worked for him.

I'm pretty sure I read in one of "the mervs" threads that stock crossmembers won't work at all for that swap.

Not saying that you are wrong, but.....

You need a LT1 Crossmember
So i guessed wrong in thinking that the v6 and v8 had the same crossmember? (typical)

I did a LS swap into my 95 Z. I have an aftermarket crossmember and had to enlarge the holes to slide it forward for it to work, it did not line up perfect.

Nicely done. We had to elongate the hole in the crossmember when we did my swap. I wish I had a welder...sigh. So many uses for one
