Default Bought brand new Performabuilt tranny but still having the same issue

Ok i swapped out the tranny and still having the same issue. Its not as bad but still slips while pedal is on the floor. Shifts perfectly fine on normal driving. But when i floor it the transmission doesnt shift into drive from 3rd gear. Any suggestions? could it be the stall converter? or is it the computer? i have a Yank PT 4000 converter thats survived 3 rebuilds. Would like to hear all the ideas. Thanks

Define "slip." Does it just bounce off the rev limiter? Also, do you mean it won't shift to 4th at WOT? Because if so, that is perfectly normal unless you have a tune. Stock, the computer will NOT allow the transmission to shift to 4th at WOT because a stock transmission with a stock 2-4 band can't handle it.

To enable a 4th gear shift at WOT, you need an aftermarket tune.

By the way I read it it sounds like it won't take 4th when at w.o.t . Like said before that is normal . U also having a 4k stall keeps the r.p.ms higher under w.o.t so its not gonna let the r.p.ms down like part throttle will

sounds like the tune. But not enough info. Are you saying the car will stay in 3rd to the rev limiter?

Hmmm k got the nu one had my tuner have it install guest what does da same thing so they told me I can't race in 3 I have to race in over drive .... Well the odds of two trans having the same issue would seem very small I would say. However is is fact that when in D3 the shift becomes more complicated and takes more fluid so there is a greater time delay between comand and shift because you are in fact turning on an additional clutch set on the 2-3 shift when in the D position that you do not turn on in the OD position. So yes the 2-3 shift will happen more quickly in the OD position. Im not sure for racing what the advanatge or racing in the D3 verse OD is it certainly will not make the car faster nor will the car at least properly tuned. Next is the converter the same stall as you had before as if you changed the stall speed again it will need to be tuned before it will do anything correctly.

To the OP 00FREAK With a 4000 stall shifting to od at WOT would be unusual and as mentioned the stock tuning will not allow it to do this as a shift from 3-4 is disallowed.

I had the same TQ and built tranny before installed the new tranny. @ WOT the transmission slips hitting the rev limiter. Right now Im deployed but i'll be home really soon and i wanted to have this fixed ASAP. There is no tuner out here. Prolly have to send in my ECU to get tuned. Any good places that can fix this tune issue?

When you get back to town you look me up. I'm in Garland, basically on the East side of Dallas.

I use LG Motorsports and another very well known and respected Tuner for all my tuning. If my client has the software and hardware interface I will tune it myself with EFI Live or HP Tuners. I can usually get a Transmission specific tune done in a day depending on what time we get started.

I got your back either way buddy, all you have to do is call me or send me a PM.

00freak, this is just my two cents here. I had a similar problem for a while where the stock tranny wouldn't shift at WOT, but drive perfectly fine around town. I almost bought a new transmission, all I needed was a $5 can of MAF sensor cleaner and I haven't had the problem since.

Whatever you do, DO NOT let the tuner mess with line pressure in the transmission. That could make it worse!

okay still having issues with the transmission. still can't figure what the hell it could be. i verified the trans fluid was topped off and adjusted the shifter cable. cleaned my MAF. Still having the same issue. still slips. i just installed the new tranny and having issues. i still have my other transmission. in the process of swapping them out i didn't see any damage when i removed the pan. if the trans was cooked would gear parts be fallen out? Maybe it wasn't the transmission after all. This is really odd. Any ideas?

Two trans same issue and assuming it does shift through the gears and is not in limp mode or something I would have to think converter or tune issue have you had it to a tuner yet?
