Default best converter for bolt on car

If money allows I'm looking into buying a converter before my tune. Car is a 98z with pretty much full bolt ons. Stock heads and cam for now. Already has a 3.73 gear. What would be a good one for me, most of my racing is done on the street from a roll. I rarely do dead stops and rarely hit the track. Car isn't a daily driver but still want it to be streetable

I would look into a 3600 for your application, you will see great gains from one and the streetability will still be very good

i considered the SS3600 and then looked into revmax and decided the cost was worth the risk. thousands of miles later i'm extremely happy i saved money. my 3400 stall from revmax is perfect. i honestly have no complaints. only thing i added to mine was the upgraded clutch since i do a ton of driving in the 40-50mph range where lockup is constantly on/off and wanted the extra piece of mind.

i'm sure either will do fine for you, you just have to ask yourself if spending the extra money for reputation is worth the piece of mind. do yourself a favor and research before you buy.

*edit* now having problems, not sure if its converter or something else yet........

For roll racing and if you already have 3.73 gears then the Circle D Specialties 2E is ideal. It pulls like a train and with 3.73 gears it will drive really nice.

This is a very popular cooler and fit with the FTRA and SSRA. It cools great and fits well.

Good luck!

i had a vig3600 on stock trans, awesome from a stop and below like 70mph then ran outta steam. bought a built trans and a yank3600 now very happy.!!! the vig was just so damn loose. but with the vig, headers, and 373s i ran a 12.2 so it definitely was a good verter. lol

Have you removed your front bumper supports? If so, there is a ton of room in there for a cooler. That's how I have mine mounted with my SSRA.

It's THE bread and butter converter for bolt-on street/strip cars. Some guys like bigger, other guys like different brands.

I love mine. I upgraded from a TCI 3000 and the SS3600 feels almost identical on the street.

PTC 3600... Let them know the setup and what kind of racing you intend for it.

You could go with some of the other recommendations but I prefer a custom built converter VS off the shelf and I like getting the parts I paid for in my converter.
