Default foreign object in 4l60e please help

i took apart my 4l60e last night due to not having second gear.. once i got to the sun shell it had this piece wedged between the sun shell and the case

heres the pix http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/pts/3181834875.html

it looks all bent up and possibly used to be perfectly straight and would be about 4 inches long and both ends are flattened about a half inch

and ideas... was rebuilt in 2010 by some no name shop back when a friend owned the car

any help is appreciated!!!

It's not a "foreign object", it's the anti-rattle clip/spring. It belongs between the case and the low roller sprag.

That is the anti clunk spring. It wedges between the low roller housing and the case. It keeps the low roller housing from walking back and forth in the case.
