torque arm with TH350???????
My dad has a M6 and is wanting to convert it to a TH350. We think we have everything in line except for one thing.........the torque arm. What are you guys doing with it on your TH400's and other tranny's? Thanks in advance.

make a cross bar to hook the front of the tq arm to. on my friends car we welded the cross tube to the bmr subframes. i made his tq arm and the cross bar from scratch. but i elieve the bmr or any aftermarket tq arm should have a cross bar.

Get a aftermarket one like a BMR or Spohn that doesn't mount to the transmission. It's better in the long run as you will not want all that force transferred to the tailshaft.

I just finished putting a TH400 in my 99' T/A. I had to build onto my existing crossmember for my Random Technology torque arm to fit. Everything came out o.k. but now I have a vibration at higher speeds and I think it may be due to the rigidness of the torque arm being mounted directly to the crossmember. What does everyone think?

The torque arm has to be mounted to a swivel. If you mount it directly to the crossmember I believe you are asking for a series of driveline bind issues. Even the factory torque arm is allowed to move in and out of the tranny mount for it. I certainly never noticed any significant vibrations from my Spohn TA that way.

It still has the urethane bushing and the tube can slide in and out of it. Basically I used parts from the TH350 kit and built it the same except I mounted it to the crossmember and not the tail shaft.

the one i made we mounted it solid.just has a single buthing and bolt connecting it to the cross bar. and it was drove on the street with no prob. i would not do it that way if it was a daily driver and the car has since been taken off the street.
