Default concerns about 4000 stall

Im, about to go in for the next round of mods.. currently i have a 12 bolt moser 33 spline 3.73 rear end. kooks headers, kooks y pipe maganaflow cat back exhaust. What im gonna have done next, is a yank ss 4000 stall, built tranny, and trans brake. my goals with the car is to be in the mid 11 sec 1/4 mile range and also be streetable. I dont plan on heads and cam until early next spring. the concern i have is with the 4000 stall because everyone is telling me thats to high of a stall and it will feel like **** driving normal.. Can someone here verify if this is true? or do any of you guys have a simialr setup to mine thanks....

You'll be ok. It'll be street able and the 3.73s will make it feel not as loose as it would with stock gears. I have an ss3600 with 3.23s and its not hard to drive at all on the street.

You'll be fine, I went from a 3400 to a 4k and I liked it better all around, it was only a little bit looser, I had 3.23's & full bolt ons at the time!!!

I just went up to a 4000 this year from a 3600. It's not bad on the street but I have to say 3600 is a little nicer on the street.

If you're prepared for it then it will be no big deal. I'd say do what you want first and don't do what I did.....3200 then switch to a 4k later.

I had a 3600 and now I have a 4000 stall. Do it right the first time, to me having a slightly looser converter is worth having a stall this will work better...

Default My experience with a 4000stall

I had 4000 stall with 323gears hit hard has a bit of slip but I never drive on the highway and milage droped from 17 to 9 mpg, when I rebuilt tranny I went to a 3200 stall like it just as much only run a tenth or so less ET and now getting 15mpg and this is with 228 tsp cam if I had cam like with 240 duration I would have kept stall

It'll drive fine, if anything you'll like it better. Drove my 4400 w/389's everywhere, no issues.

408ci engine
252/274 cam
over 550 to the ground on a low reading dyno(before Nitrous)
5000 stall
.75 overdrive gear and a 3.50 rearend gear
15 mpg driving around town with some highway driving

its all in your foot...keep your foot off the floor and you will get a lot better gas mileage.

I had a 4000 stall with 3.73.. It drove great and performed like a boss. I would have no worries or concerns daily driving a 4k stall.

3.73s and a 4k go hand in hand. Perfect setup, then match your cam/heads accordingly and it'll pull hard throughout the whole rpm.
