Default Brand New Transmission Problem

I just bought a brand new transmission and new torque converter. I went through the break in process the right way according to the manufacturer. I have had this transmission for a little over a week. When the transmission warms up, it feels like it's slipping. The engine is just slipping in first gear and reverse is just like I am in neutral. I shut off the car, then start it back up almost instantly and it is fine. What's causing this? The transmission is literally brand new. Any input would be appreciated.

What brand/level transmission is it? And is the torque converter stock stall speed?

Thanks for the feedback. I have a Performabuilt Level I transmission. I am running a Yank SS 3600 in it too.

Is the converter new or was it in your previous unit? What is the stall speed , Since when you turn it off it returns to normal when you start it immediately sounds kinda like limp mode . Have you had the car tuned for the stall you have and or checked for codes? The other possibility is the filter is becoming restricted for some reason.

I will check on it whenever I get a chance. What is limp mode exactly? Also, the converter is brand new. I bought it came in a week or two before the trans came in. It isn't throwing any code. I haven't had it tuned yet. It will be tuned whenever I can fine $450. Thanks for the reply Frank

Limp mode will make the car start off in a higher gear (2nd or 3rd I can't remember) and won't let the converter lock or the trans shift to 4th

It should throw a code for shift solenoids (or at least mine did)

If you are going from a stock stall to a 3600 a tune is a must or you will have repeated limp mode .

You mention that Reverse is like Neutral. I would suggest checking the linkage to be sure you really are in Reverse.
And as has been said - you need a tune for a stall.
Who is quoting you $450 for a tune? You don't need a dyno tune, just a mail order tune. Not sure how much Frost charges, but start there.

I was going to go to Heintz Performance in Mooresville. They're about an hour from me. I was going to get a full tune. I have a set of Heads, Cam, Intake, Boltons, Moser 12 bolt, and the trans stuff that has been mentioned. I will start with a tune as soon as I can get the money. Thanks for all the input
