Default what are the best gears for a 4l60 and a 26" tire

I'm mainly into stick car's and I know what gears work best with what tire for a stick.....can someone bring me up to speed on what the best setup would be for a 4l60e with a 26" tire....it will be a dual purpose car that will probably see more street time than anything but I don't want to be caught slipping for a race that may pop up here and there

I'm leaning towards a set of 3.90's since I have a TNT power ring that could find it's way on this car possibly

Most guys are running 3.73 gears with that setup.... After all the 4L60 isn't as highway friendly as a 6 speed car.

What mods do you have now, and what future mods will you be doing?

3.73 on a 26" tire is perfect for a NA street/strip car. Cruises 60mph @ 2000rpm locked. Honestly you might want a 3.42 if you plan on spraying or go to a taller tire.

Fully agree.
You need to work backward from your expected trap speed and desired RPM at that point to determine the rear ratio.
At 125mph with a 28" tall MT 275 drag radial and 3.73 rear, I was at 6000 rpm.

Mods would be H&C ,headers, Fast 90/90, converter and a TNT power ring.....all my spare part's I have laying around. ...I still need to pick a converter....I have 28"s from my stick car that I could throw on there but then I'm grinding calipers and don't really want to have to do all that...I'm thinking if I had steep gears in it it might keep me out of trouble with driving too fast on a daily

3.23 - 3.73 all day long. For the track, you'd want a gear that puts you through the traps at peak power, but for occasional street action, you want a gear that can get you into the meat of the torque curve at various speeds/rpms. Some guys like 2.73's because the car will grab 2nd at higher speeds, but it's all about the converter and final drive ratio keeping the LS1 in that 4500+ power range.
