Default Need to get 4L60E temp down below 200 degrees *Help*

I have a FI car and in no time driving around town the tranny temps can get to 235 degrees easy with no spirited driving, just in stop and go traffic.

I have heard deep pans and trans coolers for these transmissions help lower temps. Does anyone have proper part numbers of what exactly I need to get these temps down. Thanks.

Deep pans are good.

A dedicated transmission cooler with the radiator transmission cooler bypassed is your best bet to get your temps down.

Thanks, I have searched but getting conflicting information. What size pan and what kind of trans cooler?

Good advice. I recently installed a deep pan and actually it does seem to be working (I was on the fence about whether I thought it would help). Bypass the stock cooler, external cooler, deep pan and it will be worlds different.

Take the lines that run into the radiator off, and run them to a LARGE trans cooler. Plug the radiator. The radiator only heats up the trans fluid in cold conditions, and over heats it in 70-90 degree days. Get a large cooler, or better yet one with an electric fan and connect it to the lines.

I went with a steel b+m because it had a drain plus a sending unit bung. Name: 1435669715_zpsdad46453.jpg

For now I am going to keep the current pan on their now, I dont think it is stock, I think 1-2 quarts over.

I am thinking about going with this one.

I listed out what you needed via PM.

Get sweet performance AN trans fittings (-6 or -8), 2 fittings to connect to the trans in/out, 20ft of AN hose (feed and return) , a trans cooler, 2 more fittings to connect the hose to the trans cooler and mount it where there is good airflow.

I just noticed that this is 60E and not an 80E, so the fittings won't matter from sweet performance.

Do a search on ebay, you can get transmission coolers with AN end on them so you don't have to buy extra fittings to go from NPT to AN.

It will be all plug and play that way. Just pay attention to sizes and you may have to step down or up somewhere.

Get rid of you stock transmission cooler lines completely, and switch everything over to AN, it will be way easier.

You just get an external cooler and leave the factory stuff alone in the radiator, and run COMPLETElY new lines.
