4l60E TCC wont lock up
So I noticed lately my TCC lockup has been in and out, sometimes it wouldn't lock. For about a week now it just wont lock anymore. The other day my check engine light came on for a misfire and P00741 "TCC system stuck off." I cleared the codes to see if that had any effect and it still wouldn't lock. Drove down the highway and my buddy with his Snap On tool commanded the TCC to lock and unlock and you would see the RPM's dip up/down respectively but very slightly (still not locked). I keep seeing that a misfire may cause the TCC to not lock, but I'm thinking the fact that I cleared the codes and it still wouldn't lock (no misfire code set yet) tells me this might not be the issue. Its a stock 4L60E in an 08 Saab 97x with a shift kit and FTI 3000 stall converter - just did trans lines new filter and fluid. Any ideas before I pull the pan and put a solenoid in?

What Shift Kit? Did you have Lock Up after the shift kit install?
Possible causes...
•TCC PWM solenoid valve mechanically stuck OFF or leaking.
•TCC regulator apply valve stuck in the OFF position.
•TCC Enable Solenoid valve stuck in the OFF position or leaking.
•TCC enable valve stuck in the OFF position.
•Misaligned damaged or leaking valve body gasket.
•Turbine Shaft O-ring cut or damaged
TCC Enable Solenoid "Bodies" do crack sometimes.

So I just took it for a drive. Tcc worked fine and I haven't touched anything. Locked up on highway speeds etc. Scary part was when I got off the highway and when I stopped at the light I heard a weird whining noise.. It went away quickly. I'm not sure on the brand shift kit - I think HD2. I bought it this way after my buddy built it. It has worked fine until recent. I'm going to do plugs and wires to try to sort out the misfire code first.

Oh boy, on my way to work today converter locked fine, but now it seems like its slipping a lot when unlocked. Feels like its completely de-coupled at the top of the 1-2 shift then engages back and shifts... Sounds like its gonna be a fun weekend.

I assume you are getting a new converter as that material is likely the converter's clutch.
Many aftermarket converters work better with an On/Off TCC valve instead of the stock PWM TCC valve, but check with the manufacturer.

KLABZ28, Looks like it could be multiple things that caused this issue. We definitely want to help you get this resolved. Please call us at the shop and speak with Greg.

Yeah I was afraid this single disc might not work well with the power and weight. I'm definitely getting a new converter or having this rebuilt, not sure if I should stick with the single.. I will give Greg a call tomorrow. Thanks again!

Same here, I really love the Yank SS3600 in my camaro right now, but I'll be swapping to a 4L80E in that soon so I'll probably be giving Greg another call for that converter.
