Default Biggest tranny cooler with rubber hose? 70266 or 70274 work?

So my B&M 70264 cooler isn't cutting it. I am thinking of stepping up to a b&m 70266 or 70274, but I would really rather just keep the rubber lines going to it. Can I still put barb fittings on either of the coolers mentioned above or do I have to switch to braided lines?

You can put what ever fittings you want in the 70266.

Why not by pass the radiator cooler and go to braided lines?

With some effort I could find several threads where the OP's rubber lines leaked causing a trans failure that required a rebuild.

Similarly I recall several threads where the trans cooler built into the radiator sprung a leak (one with an '98 OEM radiator, one with a new Summit radiator) filling the trans with coolant and ruining it. Since the Gen-4 is now 15+ years old, that is another reason to bypass the radiator.

You can buy NPT to barbed adapters and make the threaded coolers work with rubber lines.

can you elaborate on this ? I was thinking of running the factory steel lines from tranny to an aftermarket cooler. I don't want to cut the rubber on factory lines but would rather get the threaded AN fittings with the braided line only to the aftermarket cooler. ( just attach the fittings to end of factory cooler lines that currently thread into the radiator) It just seems like a waste of time and energy to run all new braided lines all the way to trans when it has perfectly good factory steel lines routed perfectly and not leaking or rubbing on anything.

Do it right and run the braided -6 AN lines and fittings. My buddy had one of his barb lines come off while driving and got stranded. It is well worth the price when you do it once and never have to worry about it again... I hate looking back on things and thinking "I kind of wish I went with the better product".

You can buy an adapter for your cooler if it's threaded. It will turn it to a barb which a rubber hose can slide onto. You cut the stock line where it's rubber, extend it with cooler hose to the new cooler. You would use a barb straight through fitting and good hose clamps and extra hose. Both fittings are available at home depot. Running all AN braided stuff is nice, while you think it's perfectly routed, it isn't once you start changing stuff like exhaust. Braided line is nice because it goes wherever you want.
