In my build ('96 c1500) I went overkill on the valve body stuff but here's my list that I used.

-Sonnax Smart Shell
-New reverse input drum
-Rebuild kit from trutechtrans (includes band, pistons, seals, frictions, bushings, etc)
-Corvette 2nd servo
-Transgo separator plate
-A/C Delco wire harness with all solenoids, EPC, manifold sensor, etc
-Sonnax TCC apply valve kit
-Sonnax accumulator valve train kit
-3-2 control valve spring
-Sonnax forward and reverse abuse valves
-Sonnax actuator feed limit kit
-Sonnax performance pack (includes boost valve, pinless accumulators, etc)
-Sonnax TCC regulator & isolator valve kit
-Derale transmission cooler
-Borg Warner reverse and forward 29 element sprags
-Sonnax torrington bearing kit
-Circle D torque converter
-AC Delco dex VI fluid

Here's my build thread. Yours should have a different case and I think you'll also have a different diameter output shaft, with some other small differences that changed after 1996. Some of the valve body work I did required reaming bores, which I paid a local transmission like $10/ream. The only valve that really needs work generally is the TCC regulator/isolator (code 1870), which there is a common and cheap non-reaming option. I went overkill and a lot of the valve body work I did was more for funsies than meaningful necessity.

And Google the transmission bench 4l60e rebuild videos by Jimmy Williams. By far the best videos I was able to find, and they're FREE.

Is your c1500 for any track stuff, towing, or just a daily driver?

The Sonnax 4th servo has some value for towing, as does the Sonnax heavy duty 2-3 shift valve and a wide band (with a new reverse input drum, of course). Track stuff, you'd have to ask the other guys on the forum.

I'm not an expert, btw. The guys like mrvedit and bbond105, and a couple others are experts who will likely pop up soon to give you advice.
