Default TH-400 vs TH-350 vs 200-4R

I've currently got a 200-4R and I want to put a serious transmission in the car. I know what I currently have is a VERY nasty transmission, but It has no brake and none of the amenities of a TH-400 vs TH-350. I need to know which is going to take the power. The motor makes ~500rwhp on motor through a unlocked converter and its got a 250 shot on it also. Its a track car only, the only street miles it may get is a 10 mile cruise at max, so no need for overdrive. What do you all think?

Go with a TH400. That is what I am doing, making the drivetrain as beefy as possible.

If you are going to be putting down major power the 400 is the way to go...It will suck up some ponies more than the 350 however. I went with the th350 because I am looking at 550 spraying which I have been told by Rosslers who built my tranny will be more than enough. Plus, you can run a break with a 350 or 400.

Good Luck

IMHO a 400 is overkill unless you are putting down some serious power to the ground. Its kind of like putting 30lb/hr injestors on a stock LS1...more is not always better. Plus you will have more drive train loss with a 400 over a 350...but hey, what do I know.

Enjoy

Keep your 200-4r or sell it to me cheap. You can get a brake for it and it is plenty strong of Kurtz built it. There are no special goodies the 400 or 350 have over the 200-4r except no overdrive and they are cheaper to build strong.

So can anyone tell me the actual difference between the 400 and the 350, my car will be putting something around 600rwhp and I'm wondering if I can get away witha 350 for weight issues or should I just get a 400 to save time, money and effort?

ARE ran over 1200hp through their TH350. If it is built right it'll hold the power

1200 hp doesnt matter what tranny it is you have to freshen it up if you beat on it.
