Default can 4l60e handle 900hp?

Ive heard the factory setting is only good for 400hp. Mine has started slipping after using a 75hp shot of n2o. I only used it in OD cause i didnt have my window switch yet. This will be 2nd time ive had to rebuild it. First time 3rd and OD gave out under bone stock settings! So this time i want to build it to take 900hp or just replace with a th400. So what would i need to do so that it can handle 900hp? Or is it possible? Should i just get a th400? Suggestions?

There is no definition of stage 2 or stage 3. You need to look at the specifics each shop is proposing as well as their track record.

For 900 HP, leave the 4l60 in the dumpster and move to the TH400 or a glide.

appreciate it. Do you know anything about adding gears to the th400? I know you can add an OD gear to one. But ive heard you can add 2 gears to it. Know anything about that?

I've heard of changing gears (i.e. changing the ratios) but not adding a gear to make it a 4 spd. The 4L80 is the closest thing to a TH 400 with an overdrive built-in. You can also buy a Gear Vendors overdrive unit to pick up an overdrive gear. It works but most people feel it is pretty pricey.

FWIW i found out the actual reason the trannys gears gave out was because of a leak. Havent had a chance to check it out yet but my cousin called me tonight and told me there was tranny fluid all over his driveway from when i was over there the other day.He said it looks as though all of it had leaked out. I believe it now! Anyway tranny shop already has it now. I can have it built as strong as possible for FREE! Dont ask me how. But they're gonna put the strongest parts available for the 4l60e. So when i get it back what do you guys think itll be able to handle horsepower wise?

Promises, promises. What did they do "exactly", to acheive the claimed HP that will handle this? Is there a warranty for this? Which torque converter are you going to use? How much HP are you putting out? Let me know if I can be of help?

Pro Built is absolutely correct.....Few tranny builders can deliver a 4l60e to handle 600+

No i never said the 4l60e could be built THAT strong. But the guy i know has built it as strong as he possibly can. I have no clue how much HP its worth but I just told him do the best he can and if it ***** up ill deal with it and swap it out with a better one.
