Rock On tranny quit handling 700rwhp
Now the bitch is holding 746rwhp!!! I dyno'd again Sunday with a better tune and was shocked when he told me the numbers. I got a cool plaque too since it was a dyno day and I had the highest numbers. I dont think my combo can make any more power than that. I figure 800rwtq will kill it soon enuff! We will see...so far it hasnt missed a beat. I got about 17,000 easy ( ) street miles on it and about 50 track passes. When I bought this tranny, all the naysayers said it wouldnt hold 600rwhp for 20 passes.......WRONG The 200r-4 for the turbo buicks took awhile to become reliable just like our 4l60-e. looks like Dave has found the right combo of parts and secrets to make one live. Hopefully this will make some folks reconsider giving up their o/d on their daily driver. I am going to the track again tomorrow and beat her up some more. Rock On!!!!!!!!

that awesome man!! I've just took my small shaft 700r4 to him to rebuild for a great price. I dont expect those kind of numbers out of it, but atleast it gives the reassurance of what he can do. 746rwhp, thats almost 900 crank hp right???

Do you ever run it on the street WOT with automatic 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, 4-2 downshifts? I've heard that the auto downshifts are what kills these trannies. Maybe I'm wrong but that is what I've heard.

I meant the built 4l60e. I've seen how the stock 60e can crap out alot so I was wondering if the built ones could reliably handle a highway race or slower rolling street race. That is a good idea though to not go WOT immediately and just go 50-75% that way it still kicks down but with less power through it. I can see how WOT after that would be okay. I like the idea of being able to steer, hold my Route 44 Sonic Coke, and still be able to race.

I dunno but imagine it is not good for the built ones either. It worked well at the track tonight...we had no traction because of ricers draggin water to the starting line. I had the fastest street car!!!! Also, was faster than half the trailored cars and i only turned 10.4s in the heat. The 4l60Es steep 1st gear is really helping my hog leave the line. My buddys stock tranny took a dump before he got to the track tonight...guess he will be getting a Rock On soon!!! Don't give up your o/d fellas...no need to...just get a good builder and follow a few precautions like not doggin it if the tranny temps get high.

What converter are you using? Those are sweet times!!!
My stock 4L60E started sliping the 1-2 shift this past Saturday.
I also wasn't able to spray out of the hole due to traction

I love my Rock-On tranny too, but mine only has to handle 638 at the rear wheels. We also put one in my son's car which is around the same horsepower. Dave builds some great trannys!
