Thats called a neutral drop. It'll break the low roller.

That's a very useless thing to do. The stall on your torque converter governs what RPM it locks at. reving higher will just strain it as it tries in vain to lock.

Just get a 5000 stall

Thats one of the fastest if not the fastest way to tear a transmission up. Please park your car if you are going to continue doing this. You dont need to be behind the wheel.

If youre asking how bad that is, as in your even considering it, i hate to see how you drive your car and what else you try doing.

My friend used to own a '88 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. He used to do 4k gear drops in his auto tranny....needless to say the tranny exploded and it runs no longer.

A friend of mine, very rich friend, had a 99 Diamante, and he did that crap all the time. After losing 3 trannys in two months he finally junked the car. Perfectly nice car ruined, but this is the same kid who go drunk and wrecked his truck, then had his parents buy him a nicer one lol.

I was just asking, I figured it would be bad. I was around some people I knew and revved the engine to get them to look, had my hand on the stick, not paying much attention and accidentally shifted way early(and tires squealed and I rocked and took off). I had meant to wait till I was back down to 1rpm or so. I didn't do it on purpose.

It's not good to rev your motor up to 4 or 5k unloaded anyway ... you may spin a bearing before you have the chance to destroy your tranny.

I rev to 5k all the time, it's fun.

Doing that and dropping it into neutral........yeah that's been covered. I use to do it all the time in high school when I got a hand me down station wagon. You know, one of the HUGE ones with a five liter V8. It lasted just fine for as long as WE owned it anyway.

The "I was around some people I knew and revved the engine to get them to look" and "not paying attention" should not go together either.

Always pay attention to everything!

I don't know who you are or what you drive or if you'd posted this before....but I feel I should say:

You must be referring to something with a stroke shorter than 3.6".

If it's something that shouldn't rev that high, having oil pressure doesn't mean you didn't F something up.

Besides, the stock gauges in an LS1 F-body only go to 7k.
