How good a price? If 400 or lower, go for it and see how you like it. If higher than 400 save a few more pennies and get yourself a 3500+. You can always sell the 3000 later. Anything under 3500 to me feels like stock and really isn't worth it, but if the price is right, go for it.

i had a 98 with a hotcam and 3.73 gears..i had.. stock,3200,4000,3800 converters..out of all of them..i liked the 3200 the best. althogh my 3800 wasnt bad either..my favorite (which i never had) is my buddies yank ST3500 it drives dam near like stock until you hit it..you cant go wrong with yank..mike is a standup guy and their product is awesome.

I'll try and answer also.
The 3000 will work great, but like already mentioned a higher stall will work even better. I use a Yank SS4000, work awesome around town and even better on the track. It's even more streetable than the Yank ST3500 I had.
The converter will let the car rev a little higher when you leave the lights allowing the engine to get to it's peak power sooner. The car will accelerate quicker if you can get traction. The disadvantage is a slight loss of mileage around town.
If you leave the stock converter you will probably need to bump your idle up a bit. It will not work as well as the 3000. You will probably have surging issues.
Have fun.
