Well I'm happy overall (Vig 2800 owner), but here are some perceived downsides and a couple positives. I think my trap speeds are low for what I have done to the car and the rwhp (376). I seem to trap about 106-107 @ 12.7-12.9, and don't have many passes (maybe 10 total). I think this is due to the inefficiency of the converter. Have gotten pretty good 60' foot times with my street tires, usually 2.0, but have gotten a 1.89. On the street your not really going to accelerate quick at all unless you give it at least half throttle. You really need three-quarters to make a statement that you want to move, and basically wot so no converter (drag if you will, is evident). Maybe this is all in my mind, but this being my first aftermarket converter, that is my perception. It is fun being able to hammer the car from a stop or roll and spin the tires with the associated noise. What will not be so nice is when I get longtubes and the noise accerating the car at a low throttle position is going to draw attention, some people who are not familar with a converter will probably think something is wrong with car, but oh well. Just so long as the cops don't hassle me. I don't drive the car enough to notice a fuel consumption difference, so that is a non-issue. If I was to do it over, I think I could get by, and the car would perform better to suit my needs with a vig 2600, or a more efficient converter with the stall I have now.

I really like my TCI 3000/2.2 w/3.42's, but I wouldn't want a stall combo that was any looser. Mine only takes slightly more throttle than stock to get going, and at anything more than that, it is much more responsive. I really like how the rpms stay up after the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts, even at moderate throttle, so the motor stays in the meat of the torque band. The only things I don't like are that sometimes it feels loose in 3rd gear and it costs me about 2 mpg in town.

Man, the only thing i regret is not doing it sooner...
I have had my Yank SY3500 for approx. 1.5 years.. coupled with a decent cam, full bolt on's, Lanes True Duals, & my pitally 323's...
I can't even keep it on the road ( Literally)!!!
You punch it from 30-40 MPH and it will spin out of control!! ( Need some Nitto's)!!!
Anyway, great for daily driving, I have no regrets!! Best mod yet for an A4.. It has also been tuned!
Good luck, do it & never look back.

forgot to mention i love my stall even with the long *** gears. i've let friends drive the car (just cruizing not hammering on it) and they always comment how smooth it goes through the gears and then locks up and just cruizes. very low key and relaxed till you nail the throttle- then you'd better hold the hell on!
i usually accelerate slowly with traffic (keeping the rpms around 2500-3000) till my 45mph lockup point. then once it is locked up i can pass people and accelerate up to whatever speed with less throttle and therefore less gas used. most people move their lockup point UP but i actually moved mine down for gas milage.
i also don't have the car shift out of first gear till 20mph unless you are practically not even on the throttle (like 10%tps or lower). i did this so i can roll out from lights and then go into the throttle. otherwise it may shift to second and then have to kick-back down into first or blow the tires off.
