Shift kit
Who has installed a shift kit theirselves? Can someone not very familar with an automatic tranny pull it off? I know theres all kinds of ***** and springs in the valve body that could be fawked up. Transgo discription says that with simple hand tools and by watching the instructional video its simple. But ya dont really know you screwed something up until its too late.

i had a tranny guy do mine, and it was trans go. I watched him and only thing he done was drill the valve body to what i wanted with a cordless drill and moved the check ***** around, it didnt look difficult at all. Just paying attention to the directions is the most important thing.

i did mine with the help of a friend. neither one of us had previously installed a shift kit on a 4l60e, but we have th350/400 before.
if you are good are following instructions and somewhat perceptive, you can do it yourself, just take your time and REREAD the steps 2-3 times. the video is a total waste (for transgo anyhow) so we relied totally on the paper instructions. they were a transparent red color when we got done
took us like 5 hours

I think you got ripped off then because there is alot more to the TRANS-GO kit then drilling a couple holes and moving check *****.

Yes that would be a good idea to see what your dealing with. Its not all that hard to do if you can follow instruction and know what parts your dealing with. Yes it will void the warranty on the transmission completely and if the tranny does go bad and they pull it apart to see why then they will know that its been modified. All the new springs that come in the shift kit are different color from the originals.

i just installed the transgo hd2 kit in my 80, wasn't hard, just be careful and read twice, drill once... below are some pics.. i don't think you have to drill quite as much on a 60 install as an 80, but just to give you an idea..
