Default When is your A4 about to die?

My wife has been driving the 01 Z and she stated to me she tried to pass a semi that was chunking stuff when as she hit the accelerator the car got down began accelerating hit about 5900rpm and started doing a skipping noise not going into the next gear. I had GM put a new A4 in this car 34k miles ago and of course their warranty is for 30k any ideas on the problem???

THANKS

Used to happen to me at the track till I got some tuning done. The skipping noise was the rev limiter.

but would the rev limiter prevent it from going into the next gear because theres a gear left to go but i cant get there because it starts skipping when i hit the high rpms

I'm by no means a trans expert, I can only speak from my experiences. I thought my trans was going out because of the bouncing on the rev limiter, I figured adding a stall would finish it off. However since the stall and the tuning I have never had the problem again. I'm not sure if it is a trans glitch or a tuning glitch. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I had that issue after I put a stall in mine.....add about a quart of fluid.....yup overfill it....my car stopped hitting the limiter on the 2/3 shift after I did this.....something about the fluid sloshing away from the pick-up under acceleration and over filling gives it a little cushion.....

mine started doing that right after i got the gears. Tranny took a total dump a few months later. Recently pulled it apart and rebuild it. 3-4 clutch pack was in peices, piston was in peices, forward clutch pack in peices.

so yeah it isn't good.

I would think 3-4 clutch packs as they usually are the first thing to go.

mine did that, and the next day i had no forward gears at all, it ended up being my forward piston in the trans. the skipping noise is the rev limiter keeping you from overreving your engine and causing engine damage..

my car just started do this, but not everytime. Its seems after I've been running the car for a while(15 + minutes), it stops doing it.

To better explain what is happening... the transmission doesn't shift when it's supposed to so the rpms keep going up until you hit the factory rev limiter.

thats what mine does since i just added Pacesetters and 2nd gear won't show up intil about 3 to 4k rpm normal driving....so maybe that TSP tune will fix it maybe?
