Hey guys my converter and trans cooler are going in tomorow and i don't have a trans temp gauge. Will i be alright if i don't have a gauge to check with not overheating the trans. The converter is a 3400 2.1 str fuddle racing converter and the bm trans cooler is the one that everyone uses. Please help as this is going in tomorow.

You will be fine for a DD, but if you race much put a guage on it.

Putting the gauge in is very simple. The sending unit screws into a pressure test port above the tranny linkage on the drivers side. Just remove the plug in the port and replace with sending unit. Run signal wire to wherever you want the gauge mounted, tap into a switched 12v source and a good ground and you have a tranny guage....pretty easy.

I burnt my tranny up with the B&M and people at my speedshop told me that it was because the cooler was too small. I am not sure which B&M cooler I had though, but I now have a really nice large one that Gearstar sent me. I had a temp guage and I could monitor my temps, once they started getting higher though I couldnt do anything about it, but it probably bought me some time.

You will want a gauge for racing, if your tranny gets too hot it will eat up power !

I have the B&M Cooler,Deep Tranny Pan and Vig 3800. On cool nights it'll stay around 125ish, in dead texas heat it usually never gets over 175

You could compliment your cooler with one of B&M's new blackout gauges, I installed mine right in front of shifter.

I would recommend a temp gauge even on a daily driver. It's cheap insurance. Driving in traffic can be very rough also....

just an idea......do you have a digital multi meter? take the sender out.... wait till its cold check the volts or the continuity or ohms or sumtin and see what it reads,,,,,, then heat it up in ur hand nice and warm and see it the reading rises if it does it should be werking fine......... also check all your connections make sure it aint like shorting or crossing anywhere and getting a bogus reading,,,,, or ur trans is guna blow up all over the street lol sorrri

if i take that plug out is a lot of fluid going to come out of there and does the sending unit that comes with the auto meter gauge fit right in there.

no fluid should come out maybe a drop or two but thats it. The autometer sending unit will screw right in they recomend some teflon sealant on the threads and the wire that you use should be 18 guage. hope this helps
