You don't need a stall to change gears out. The stall is connected to the tranny, not the rear end. That being said, a decent stall is one of the best things you can do for an A4 IMO.

Duh....... I Know That . My Question Is Can I Go To A 3:73 Gear And No Stall, Or Should I Add A Stall To Compliment The Gears?

Wow, with that "duh" attitude no one is going to offer advice to a little smart ***...

The stall will drop .5 to 1 second off your ET, gears will drop .2-.3 seconds off your ET. You do not need a stall to do gears. A stall should be your first mod. This forum has a search feature.

Lol, it's ok. I really didn't know what you meant, you'd be surprised how mechanically uneducated some people can be.
You definitely should do a stall first. To me, an auto is nothing without a good converter. Gears are good, but they're not as important as a stall.

I haven't done a gear swap yet but when I threw on my 4400 stall the only way to describe it was as a sling shot. My ET Streets hooked up like crazy and sent me flying. I love it.

Gears Are A Good Mod By Them Selves But Will Complement A Stall Onverter By Makeing It More Streetable.. In The End You'll Eventually End Up Doing Both So I Say If You Got The $$ Just Do Em Both Now

For Most People A 3800 Stall And 3.73's Is The Way To Go .. If Its A Daily Driver Mabye A 3500... Also I Perfer To Keep The Str Down A Bit Since With A High Str Youll Blow The Tires Off Anything But Slicks So If Running Anything Less Sticky Than A Nitto I Would Say Stick With A 2.2 Str .. I Can Tell You I Have A2.5 Str And Will Destroy A Set Of 315-35-17 Nittos My Buddys 3500 2.2 Str Is Much Better Matched For That Tire Also If One Day You Are Gonna Go Big Cam Them Mabye A 4000 Stall Might Be In Mind .. Whatever You Do Make Sure To Consider Your Future Mods When Picking A Stall As Far As Gears Go Some People Go As High A 4.11 But I Wouldent Exceed 3.73 On A Daily Driven Car

I have 4.10's on my dd, but that's just my preference. Oh, and also a Yank PT 4200 which is a 2.5 str. Yeah, good tires are needed... mainly just anything better than street tires.
