Unhappy 4l60e Blues

Man I have been having so many problems with my transmisson this past year I traded a builder friend of mine that works at American Transmisson a snowmobile worth about $500 bucks to rebuild it. It has failed 4 times this year from him rebuilding it. He blames it upon abuse. No hard parts have ever failed. Car only runs 12.9 in the 1/4. He will not cover it this time around.

* The most recent failure has been after installing my Fuddle 3000 stall. The trans isnt actualy gone yet. It shifts fine when cold, but when hot it has a really soft and slippy 2-3 shift. Yes I have a cooler and a deeper pan. I think it needs a rebuild? I did drive the car with the new stall and with out the trans cooler for about 4 days. Could have this have overheated the fluid? Could maybe changing the fluid fix this?

- I only race with the car in D. Trans has vacuum mod kit and just about all the performace parts you can put on this trans.

when adding a high stall, the shifts will feel soft, thats why some get a shift kit. as for the slippery 2-3 shift, idk.

then check your fluid. i bet it's low. if it's not low, have it changed (assuming it's not brown or black!).

We are running a labor day sale if you are looking to purchase a unit. I can't believe that you have been 4 units this year. Sorry to say but I would be looking into changing builders. Good luck to you, Vince.

Well yesterday I tried changing the fluild to some good stuff, new filter and went back to the EPC solinoid. No change Bangs the 2-3 limiter a few times before the shift. My season this year with my car is now over
It sucks. I have spent a lot of money on this trans this year. One thing I found out was after driving the car with the vacuum mod then going back to the EPC,the vacuum mod gives a lightning fast downshift, good for roll racing.
( Im not a fan of roll racing, but lots of people try to race me from a roll)

Sounds like the trans needs a tune if you are banging the 2-3 shift on the limiter before it shifts.
