Default Thinking of doing the T56 to TH400 swap; got a few ???'s

OK. I'm looking to do the T56 to TH400 swap. My cars specs are in my sig. I'm looking for a tranny to hold 1000 hp. This should keep me in the clear for durability with my planned 800 rwhp setup.

My questions are:

-Where to buy a LS1 conversion TH400 and how much?
-What size TC to go with and still be a comfortable driving street car?
-Does anyone have pics of shifter install in a 6 speed center console?
-What size driveshaft is going to be needed to fit with a Moser 9"?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

as far as the LS1 mount I cant help you, LS1 guys will have to chime in there, but the pic and DS I can help with,

as far as a TC goes your best bet is to get ahold of ATI or some other good converter place and have one made to the car, and off the shelf converter will work but your not goingto get the best performance out of it, if you custom order one they will set the stall up the the power curve of the engine, they want to know everything about your car to set one up, engine size, power adder, gears, weight, cam specs, I had mine done custome for the car that ran $800 for an ATI treemaster MRT.

I used a B&M hammer shifter in mine took a little work to get it right but it looks great now

I got my DS from spohn I got his top gun series, 1350 ends strange stainless yoke and strange solid U joints, should be good to around 1500 HP.

Thanks man. That shifter install, the gauge setup, and your switch panel all looks killer. I think you just showed me an idea for my interior. I think I'll set the dash gauges similar to yours, but I can't do the 3 others above the radio or the same stlye switch since I still want functioning A/C. I'll have to brain storm on the rest of the setup. Thanks again for the pics. That helped alot. On more question for ya:

What is the measurement of your DS, from u-joint to u-joint?

Thanks agian!!!

It should bolt right up to the LS1 block.

I went with a yank pt4000. love it. Its not too bad for the street. I wouldn't go any higher stall than that.

I got the same shifter as the one shown above (lethal93ta). Looks just like it and I love the heck out of it. Don't get a Cheetah. They are nice shifters but they won't fit into the M6 console without cutting and look like crap. I would only get a cheetah if I didn't have the console.

You'll have to measure after you get everything installed. Any other way is just guessing and you'll likely have to do it all over. I think my driveshaft ended up being 2 inches longer than the one w/ the t56, but its best to measure.

Other things to consider:
-TCI makes a flexplate for the conversion
-Also remember to get a transcooler. I got the B&M.
-And a trans temp gage is helpful too.

Also, you will probably have to modify the crossmember. Or you can get a crossmember from BMR that relocates the torque arm mount. I've got the BMR crossmember an its well worth the $250 in my opinion.

Yeah, but I still feel my boys got SHAFTED for their rank!
Oh, well at least we STILL know how to party hard!

And what would your main complaint be about having a 4k stall? Im thinking of going with a ~4k stall and as long as it doesnt feel like crap, Im fine.

I really don't have any complaints about having a 4k stall. Mine is not a daily driver, more of a weekend car though. If you do alot of highway driving you will miss having overdrive and a lockup. Otherwise its no big deal. The stall will feel alittle loose, but once you get used to it its not bad at all.
