Depends alot on how you drive it , if you use the power you have regular probably not long ,I always try and not fo sales reasons to get people planning a buildup to get a tranny first a foundation since all that power has to go through it on the way to the ground

there's a tarot card reader down the street from me, want me to ask? .. doing Servos? deep pan?, how big is the cooler? HOW MANY MILES ARE ON IT? how do you drive? Are there alot of hills where you live? We could go on forever.. just keep an eye on your trans temps, a lookout for any signs of a problem, early fix may cost less, that's about the best you can do w/o a complete build up...Good Luck.

my 4l60e started slipping as soon as they tested the car on the dyno. when you go above the stock rpms it's all over. i got a rebuild before it went.

You can put it in but if you use it then it will die,
Personally though I know its not as fun if i were planning a build up I would start with the transmission and work my way up from there,

hey man all i can say is my tranny must like pain , cause it takes a lickin and keeps on tickin... i spin the car to 7k, made over 400rwhp with heads/cam and a ss3600 stall... 11.5 at the track and 1.6 60's all day..bone stock tranny with a 24gwv cooler... my vote is go for it. Just keep up with maintenance, fluids/filter

A buddy of mine has been though 3 trannys with h/c/i. Another buddy has the stock one with h/c/i/Nitrous. You never know till you try it. Just start saving for a built one eventually.

I have seen stock 4L60E trans last well over 100,000 miles being hammered every weekend on cars with H/C/nitrous.

The only suggestion I can make is keep the shifts down to factory and make your fluid changes regularly. It is hard for anybody to tell when something is going to go or we would all be RICH. Go for it and you will find out.

I do remember a thread about the 4l60e and how much it wil take. It had some real good info on it about RPM's and HP/TQ

We're all on borrowed time. I'm making 400 rwhp + a 150 shot shifting @ 6800 and my trans is still stock. But, I hardly drive the car, and don't do a lot of hard down shifts.
However I'm looking to get a th400 or a 4l80e before I break this one.

I say do it....for everyone whose had a problem spinning it faster than stock, there's someone whose still doing with a stock tranny and no problems. As a matter of fact, I see more people on this site doing it with stock trans than I see with built trans.
